Why my eye is hurting a lot?

Today from evening on wards my left eye is itching and hurting a lot.When i close my eyelid the upper part of the eye is hurting , ifeel as if somethng i stuck iside my eyes..my eyes hav not gone red[ eventhough a slight reddish tint is there ] but i cannot close my eyelid now freely,as its hurting a lot.
